No, you're welcome to bring in a old character, even if his level is higher than 1st, but if you are with people who have never played DnD before it is better to start at level 1. For people who haven't played before we also have premade characters ready for them on D&D Beyond.
No, you do need to join a group to play though you are welcome to a one-shot session as a individual.

Once the campaign has sufficient interest, we'll coordinate a group (preferrably over Signal or Discord) and run a poll to find the best dates for all players. The location will depend on where most players are currently based, so we'll determine that once we have locked in sufficient interest.
It's ok to miss a session, however don't miss too many, otherwise game play will be pretty janky! The campaign will continue without you if you do miss a session and you'll get worked back in at the next session easily. So, it's not a big deal, but it's not great if you miss too many.
This campaign will be conducted in English, though we can support Portuguese natively. Even if you are not a native English speaker, it's no problem! You can play along and learn English at the same time. I help kids learn both English and Portuguese in addition to running Dungeons and Dragons campaigns!
